Tree House
Brewing Company

Headquartered in Central Massachusetts, Tree House Brewing Company is one of America’s most beloved craft breweries. Companion coffee and distillery programs added ample canvases for expressive brand design.

Helping bring can & bottles to life through design

Crafting beer labels for a craft brewery is a delicate task, mirroring the workmanship of the brew with commensurate aesthetics. The challenge lies in ensuring that the design not only matches the beer's exceptional quality, but also creates a distinct, memorable identity. Each label is tasked with telling a story, conveying the brew’s flavor profile, origin, and the Tree House’s unique ethos. Labels are a crucial element in forming a strong brand identity, fostering recognition and trust among loyal customers.

Designing for the spirit(s) of the time

Designing labels for distilled spirits is an equally challenge to meet. Marrying typography with higher-end aesthetics—plus the unique format of spirit labels—opens room for telling a story with an economy of real estate.

Exploring diverse paper textures and printing techniques offered additional avenues to help Tree House Distillery maintain its own unique voice, while still stay true as a member of the Tree House family.

Brewing up some coffee program designs

In addition to Tree House Distillery, Tree House’s greater ecosystem also includes its own coffee roastery! Whether designing packaging for single-origin roasted whole beans, seasonal cold brews, specialty collaboration brews, or Tree House Coffee Company merchandise, the work requires maintaining cohesive visuals within the framework of the brewery’s larger branding ecosystem.

The excitement and challenge of a series

Designing labels for a series of beers is an enjoyable puzzle, where the larger picture is as important as its individual pieces. The challenge lies in finding balance between unity and uniqueness, while also maintaining visually interesting compositions. Let’s go!

Below are selections from Tree House’s Project Find the Limit series; each iteration involves pushing the boundaries of specific ingredients, each in discrete steps until its maximum respective boundary is reached.

Making a mark on associated projects

One-off brewery-related typographic projects also offer chances to wrangle and experiment with varied aesthetics. Whether posters for epic concert events, or crafting logo lockups for in-person shindigs & seasonal releases, each project relies on thoughtful type to make an impact.
